I didn't care very much for this book. I kept putting it aside to listen to something else before I finally finished it. Part of the problem was I didn't care for the narrator who read Alix's diary entries--she grated on me. The characters were absurdly mature for high school students/teenagers and I didn't like the Alexadrine at all (her relationship with Louis-Charles was annoying not touching). The entire royalty subplot bothered me, the characters seemed to infatuated with the royal family (I guess I must be a small r republican). The mix of contemporary teen family drama, historical fiction, and time travel just didn't work.
