Originally on From Book to Hooked. So, it would seem that there are quite a number of people who don't like this book. Aside from a slight annoyance with Nora at times, I really liked Hush, Hush. It was a quick read for me. The plot for this book was so twisty it was insane! When the hot, new boy, Patch, enters Nora's life, knowing everything about her and showing up everywhere, Nora can't help but be drawn to him. When she suspects he's not quite human, she finds herself wrapped up in a world she never knew exsisted and a battle between the immortal and the fallen. Beside my issue with Nora, I did frequently have the, "Oh, gosh. I'm reading Twilight with angels" moment. There are a few similarities. Maybe more than a few. For one thing, Patch and Nora are partners in Biology, which sounds familiar. Patch was also a little bit of a stalker, but he was hot so Nora didn't mind. That sounds familiar, too. Hmmm... Still, even with the similarities, it wasn't Twilight. Not really. Nora was not my favorite character. Nope. She annoyed me often, and was a little... dense? Patch kind of straight up told her he wanted to kill her and that he wasn't human... but she still had doubts about it. I was having a screaming fit throughout half of the book. Those are always fun times especially when you're around large groups of people... Nora is, however, a rare character in that she's not totally focused on having a relationship. While there was a romance in the book, it wasn't completely central to what was happening. Patch was a little creepy to me, but when Fitzpatrick started showing us more of the human side of his character I liked him more. He is like the epitome of bad boys. He's cocky, arrogant, obnoxious, and maybe a little rude, but by the end you could see there is something redeemable in him. As far as the villian of this book goes, I was suspicious of him since he was first brought into the story. I didn't have a hard time unraveling the mystery in this novel. So, as far as a debut novel goes, Hush, Hush is pretty good. I loved this book, and am sufficiently reeled in and ready for a sequel.
