The storyline weaves in and out with two main characters. Each one is intriguing in his own right. Larson's ability to retrieve the history and intricate detail behind these two men while he unfolds the events is astonishing. A fabulous read. The minute I opened this book, I could see myself living during that time and in a place that seemed somewhat familiar. During certain scenes, you wish you could be there to stop the inevitable, while others you wish you could experience the awe and suspense that unfolds from what must have been a beautiful fair. Technologically speaking, it is amazing how much our world has advanced in over 100 years. At the same time, there are certain facts within the book that show how advanced science and architecture were at that time. I definitely enjoyed learning the origins of certain buildings and contraptions that we come across along the way.
