I really like it, but it's too old for T.

O'Connor single-handedly forged my love for the short story. Her mastery of obliquely portraying a theme is the perfect balance of detail and coyness. Even without having been there, I feel safe in saying that her depiction of the South in the early twentieth century rings true. When I passed this book on to my grandparents four years ago, their reactions were the same, having lived through the times being described. There is something so intimate in these stories that they pass themselves off as the place where reality and parables intersect. I only wish she had lived long enough to write more.

I've enjoyed the "Slightly" books. This one Tracey got on my nerves. But I hope the next one is better.
