I thought the first two books in the twilight saga were a bit mediocre, but justified this in that they were written for teens a la Harry Potter. I kept reading though, and I'm really glad I decided to go ahead and read on through this book as it definitely improved not only in plot/story, but also writing. I'll now (of course) read the last book, however not as skeptically as the first two :)
