This is my favourite book. I've read it 3 times now and it holds up each time. The first was in December 1994. It has everything I love: * Fabulous writing * Unique format (each chapter is narrated by a different person, from Mussolini to a peasant girl) * Set during WWII * Lots of classical music * Amazing relationships: Father-daughter, boy-girl, boy-boy
Listened to the audiobook. Lots of horse stuff. It was OK, nothing spectacular.
