I was blown away by the beautifully descriptive prose Jacqueline Kelly brought to this novel. Her words made Callie’s world come alive, and I could actually imagine the magnificence of the countryside around her home. However, I did find at times the language a bit scientific, complicated, and slightly boring. I think that you have to be a real fan of historical fiction to truly become enamored with this book.
