At times, Scarlett O'Hara was a refreshing anti-heroine, and you really rooted for her to make a positive change. At others, she was a stupid ninny for whom you really could less. Through all that, I could see much of the more hidden aspects of my own character in her, and I appreciated that. Similarly, there was some truly beautiful passages and then, I swear, Maragaret Mitchell just would repeat some passages a few times as filler. Overall, I loved this mostly for the Southern perspective on the Civil War. Having half my heritage hail from the South, I've never been fully convinced that the South was as wrong and backwards as our history books teach. I would recommend this book for that reason alone.
