Okay. So I've gotten to chapter four and I'm not sure I can keep going. It's too depressing. With no hope in site. I mean there's a lot of book left, so there must be something uplifting coming...but I don't think I can wait 'til then.

If the first books left you a bit cold, no worries...from book 3 forward the series gets better.
