meh. there is a point when a feisty heroine's need for independence stops being endearing, and just becomes totally irritating. yes, our heroine is intelligent. and noble. and whatever. but she's also an author with no experience in the whole violent killer thing. so, maybe following the directions of a skilled mercenary would be a good idea...? oh, wait. unless you want to prove just how feisty you are... yadda yadda yadda. a bit too much corn, a bit too much cheese. and i never connected with h/h. she was too annoying, and he was too-too. he's alpha, i'll give him that. but when he decides he's in love with our heroine, he becomes as sappy as all get out. how did that happen? because that's what's SUPPOSED to happen. would i recommend it? sure. to someone who 1) is a huge lori foster fan and 2) someone who likes series. this one sets up some other characters for future books, so knock yourself out. just don't expect to want to hang out with the h/h. although i would totally hang out with chris, the gay housekeeper. the only interesting person to be found within these covers.
