A very enjoyable book. The true story of a woman who tackles the daunting task of making every recipe in one of Julia Child's cookbooks in a year's time. It is a pleasant ride along on one quirky New Yorker's journey to find some meaning in her life, outside of her pretty dead-end and somewhat depressing job. A great book for anyone who loves to cook and has ever been fascinated in the least by Julia Child. The author's determination to re-create the magic she finds in the cookbook is sometimes a seemingly ridiculous doal. Finding a way to cook up her now somewhat out of date dishes in a more modernized world, with some challenging ingredients, provides some of the more amusing sections of the book. The book does get a bit cumbersome towards the end. It seems repetitive and a bit cloying and desperate for material. You may find yourself wondering if some of the pages were reprinted again because the tale is familiar, but very much worth a read.
