This is a collection of this guy’s writings about medical cases. They were mainly written in the 70s and 80s, it seems, and his old-fashioned chauvinism shines through. There also seem to be quite a few factual errors. I definitely wouldn’t call it a good book; the cases aren’t even all that interesting and he doesn’t say anything to make them more so.

All I can say is what an unusual amazing book! I was prepared to dislike it knowing it was written from a kid’s perspective but ended up reading it in a day! Being a mother, I especially dislike books where children’s lives are in peril so was pleasantly surprised to be quickly drawn into it. The book is straggly uplifting despite the grim circumstances. You start reading about their private world in wonder because it’s was amazing what they accomplished in their 12x12 world. It truly portrays the depths of a mother’s love for a child and what she will endure to protect that child. She was able to create a world for him that was safe and enchanting yet for her it was unbearable. It amazed me that he was so smart on some subjects yet so naïve and infantile about others. A great read! It gives you a glimpse of what the world looks like from the perspective of a five year old.
