This book is a total game-changer if you read it with an open mind. True, Peale wrote it in the 50's so the language is a bit old-fashioned and he does begin with the premise that the reader has a bit of a religious background, but in no way is the power of the message lessened by either. The society in which we live does a lot of pooh-poohing at the idea that thinking positively can have any "real" impact on your life-we tend to view 'optimistic' folks as unrealistic or unintelligent. Positivity doesn't garner much respect these days. Peale, however, makes a compelling case that you absolutely can alter your life by altering your thinking. Seems too simple, doesn't it? But simple doesn't equal easy...maybe that's why so few people actually try it.
Very engaging characters. Fun story. I liked it a lot.
