Birisi The Fool's Progress ile başlayarak Abbey'i okumaya başlamamalı çünkü çok dürüst bir roman. Okuduktan kısa bir süre sonra, bir kadın arkadaşa tavsiye ettim, ... birkaç gün sonra ortaya çıktı ve bana parladı. "Neden?" Bana kahramanın tavırla açık bir şekilde kadın düşmanı olduğunu hatırlattı. Kitap açıkça otobiyografiktir ve daha önceki eserlere birçok referans içerir. Daha önceki eserlerin The Fool's Progress'e referans içerdiği söylenebilir. Bu bağlantılar, Henry Lightcap ve Abbey'in motivasyonunu ve varlığını anlamasına yardımcı olur. I started this series back in high school (I'm currently about to graduate from college), and I really enjoyed it back then. I saw the first two volumes for sale at a local Half Price Books and decided to pick it back up again. I'm only giving Volume 1 a two-star rating because it's a little spastic and the pacing isn't all that great. The author makes it obvious that these three knights are returning to their country's capital with the head of an enemy wrapped up in a bundle of cloth, and that a lot of other people want to obtain this head because it may have supernatural powers. That's all well and good, but my issue is that it doesn't really make sense for knights to slack off on the job as much as these guys do. It does introduce some characters that come into play later, but I really feel like there would be a better way to introduce them. Anyway, it's not the best read on its own, but the story and art does improve drastically as the story movies on through the different books. So don't let the first few volumes push you away.

Dr. David Levy is an amazing doctor that stepped out of a comfort zone to live his faith with action. Not only does Dr. Levy practice his faith, he also made a deliberate effort to share that faith. I found myself admiring this doctor and wish there were more doctors like him (especially my doctors)that believed in the power of prayer. Dr. Levy readily admits that all he is and all he does is a blessing, a gift that is not his to keep, and he has found that his patients not only do much better with prayer their recovery is more complete. He knows that there are times that no matter what effort given or how many prayers are said that there will be times that it's not in Dr. Levy hands. Those times are very difficult for Dr. Levy as he feels any loss as a personal loss, one that he feels from the deepest part of himself. I plan to give my doctor a copy of this book, and I imagine that my doctor will not be the only one to receive it.
