My original favorite fairy-princess book! "That smacks of something Lori would do, and we all know Lori's irresponsible!"
I have read all three of the Edmund Morris books on Theodore Roosevelt. I felt this was his strongest book of the three. This book chronicles the life of Roosevelt after he left the Presidency in 1909. I was not aware of his exploits as an ex-president beyond running as a 3rd party candidate in 1912 and surviving a gunshot wound in Milwaukee just before that election. The notion that ex-presidents must be quiet and demur must have started after he left office because Roosevelt contintued to have a national and international presence upon leaving office. The latter part of the book details the exploits of his sons in WWI and his response to their experiences in the war.
