It's something of a surprise to find a series still going strong, still introducing new elements in its fifth installment. As the author continues to expand the supernatural world and its politics around the (human) protagonist, she continues to work her great blend of the mundane and fantastic. The violence level also continues to be a given with each book, but really no more so than in most thriller/mysteries so it's not out of line with current writing at all.
