** spoiler alert ** I had to read this book all our incoming first-year students were required to read it. It was all right. Basically a love story between a Nigerian man and a British woman and how they negotiate their cultural differences. Interesting themes of identity and multiculturalism and all that, but I didn't much care for the characters and was annoyed at all the various poor choices they made along the way. Basically, the book doesn't end on a happy ending because of the mistakes that the characters made throughout their lives. It happens in real life, but I like to read books for escapism and I don't like unhappy endings. But what can you do?
