Hell yeah, this one was right up my alley! :-D A few flaws here and there, some things were a bit obvious but overall I can say I truly enjoyed this! I LOVED the characters (well, almost all of them ;-) ) and I'm literally licking my fingers in anticipation of Gabriel's story! Can't wait!!!

I suprisingly enjoyed the Host. I'm not a huge fan of science-fiction, but this alien invasion story is well-written and exciting. Earth has been taken over by aliens who use humans as their hosts. The novel focuses on the survival of a small group of humans who have not succumbed to the aliens, and is infiltrated by one alien, who defies all rules. This alien named Wanda uses a human as her host, but the human is too strong for Wanda to completely take over her body; therefore, we encounter a duel personality dilemma. In addition to the great characters, Meyer illustrates a time period and setting that is unbelievable and strange; however, she makes this far-out world seem realistic and plausible due to the careful details. Meyer tends to return to her over-dramatized dialogue in some parts of the novel, as seen in the Twilight saga. I can see where some of the ideals of Mormonism seeps through the writing. Some of Wanda's dialogue is repetitive, but the Host is written better than Twilight and flows smoothly, integrating action, characterization, and romance. Meyer does a great job using her imagination to show us a whole different world.

I had heard good things about this book before i read it and when I first started it I thought it was going to be just my sort of thing. However i have abandoned it at page 240. I still had no idea what it was about at this point and had no empathy with any of the characters. If someone wants to tell me what happens after this feel free, Maybe i have missed out on something wonderful or maybe Gaiman just isn't my thing. I wild released this copy (www.bookcrossing.com) of the book on the Ambleside to Bowness lake cruise boat if anyone wants to look for it!!
