I read the book because I never have, but I love the movie. The book is almost exactly the same as far as plot. Sometimes it felt like I was reading the screenplay. But a book is always better/different. Just a lot more insight into the characters and their thinking. And I think Goldman's literary technique of "abridging" the original text from S. Morgenstern was really great. It gave him a good device to interject his thoughts into the story. Loved it. As good as the movie, and sometimes better.

This is a great fairy tale to read! This is a book that is a must read for any child growing up.
