I read his column in the NYT as often as it's printed. Perhaps the New Yorker is correct in calling him a "phrasemaker." He does an incredible job in gathering information from all parts of the world and branding an issue that needs to be addressed. He is always extremely readable and brings detail to headlines - important headlines. Even though he is making the case and often seems to be giving ultimatums, he does not come across sensationalistic, or someone trying to simply stoke fear on how we are destroying this planet. If anything, many parts of this book provides optimism on how we can approach this challenge with promising results. I have to admit, this was the book that got me thinking about a solution, while Gore's film got me worrying about the problem.
