I am not sure if I would have given the book 4 stars if I had read it, but I really enjoyed listening to it in my car. I kept wondering, along with the family, what happened to Kim? Totally sucked me in.

Fun book. I like this kind of prose/narrative style. This book hits the wistfulness of youth and the pain of growing up button just right for me. Many other books in the same vein come off too preachy, unrealistic, and "gee whiz" for me (looking at you Higher Power of Lucky), but this one keeps the cheesiness tamped down while still evoking sincere emotion. I really did feel the pangs of youth and thinking about growing up and death and pain. It's an easy, 1-day little read. I think most of my Goodreads friends would like this.

There's some odd pacing of thing novel, and I wasn't engrossed in the storyline. However, it was very well written, and had some very memorable characters. It's our book club book this month, and I think it will be very fruitful for discussion.
