One of the better works of historical fiction I have read recently.

I probably should read this one again. I liked it a lot the first time through, but I probably missed a lot that a second or third read through would pick up. Deep stuff here on the myth of Eros and Psyche and how it translates to Christian thought and myth. C.S. Lewis regarded it as his fiction masterpiece, over and above the books he's usually known for, so if you haven't read it and you like Lewis, you should check it out.

It's not often I get pulled through a book this way. It kinda reminded me of my first encounter with the Wheel of time series sometime back in the 90's - Feel-good-thrilling... Unfortunately, this isn't a series.

Military history book about the battle of gettysberg. Didn't know much about the Civil War - and this was really more of a description of the people who fought the war. I always just assumed that I was on the side of the Union - but gaining a deeper understanding of the soldiers who fought and why they fought was really intersting.
