I've read everything from Amy Tan, and I love all her book. My favorites are The Hundred Secret Senses and The Kitchen God's Wife. This one is quite different than the others and an easier.

Very cheeky as the Brits would say. This is either a Bridget Jones'Diary for the teen set or a cruder Princess Diaries. I can see why teens would love this book, the diary of self-absorbed fourteen-year-old Georgia (but isn't everyone at that age) who obsesses over boys, sexuality, and her body. Along the way, she is a bit of a bully to her best friend and a cut-up in class, no nerdy scholar here. We leave her on her way to New Zealand after finally snogging with her dream boy. How could her parents dare to take her away now! The first of many diaries to come. Hilarious glossary of British terms, some of which I didn't even know. Who's your father, indeed!

I got this as a birthday present and was creeped out by the cover but it turned out to be one of the best reads I'Ve ever had, unfortunatly I haven't had time to track down books by the authors I particularly liked.
