I first heard sister oaks speak at a single's conference in Las Vegas. I loved her outlook, disposition (reminds me of me a bit), sense of humour, and spirituality. This moved me to read her book...I wanted to hear that others felt similar to me...in my singleness. She teaches us to enjoy the single days while working towards our eternal goals. I occasionally felt guilty for loving my single life, but she encourages us to enjoy these 'quiet days'. Her perspective is real and honest, all the while encouraging us to reach for those eternal goals. I enjoyed her perspective and found a renewed sense of striving for the ultimate goal for every Latter Day Saint Women...the idea (elusive...though it may seem) of eternal marriage! I enjoyed her writing style and enjoyed her honesty. "Being alone is never easy, but being single in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints is a unique challenge," writes Kristen M. Oaks, wife of Elder Dallin H. Oaks. Whether they are never married, divorced, or widowed, singles can often feel discounted and discouraged in a family- focused community. A Single Voice addresses these concerns and offers valuable insights, personal reflections (including the story of the author's courtship and marriage to Elder Oaks), and rich advice for living life to the fullest as a single member.

Interesting and subtle prose, it was a pleasurable read.
THIS is my favorite LMM book. I can't fully explain why. It's a comfort everytime I read it.
