Beautifully written but the premise - a woman discovers that her beloved husband was leading a double life when his plane is blown up over the Atlantic - is over-wrought. The fundamental question of whether one can every truly know another person can be portrayed in far more intimate and believable interactions. Using such a dramatic example demonstrates a lack of trust of one's audience that I found off-putting.

I think I have read this 4 or 5 times. It never pales. I really hope they don't ever make this into a movie- Hollywood could never get Ignatius Reilly.Ignatius is only in New Orleans and he would never approve of the modern cinema!
