This book was a nice little quick read recommended by a student. It was sad, and I think was something kids (even if they have their parents) could relate too. The part at the end with the kids book pages was great! One of my students recommended this book. It was in my classroom library and I had not read it. Since she asked me to read it, I said why not!
Very good pop psych book. I found myself looking at the world like it was a magical place full of items that I could join or disconnect to create a fantasy land. At the same time, it was not escapist in any sense. It was grounded in weird data about the way we make the world in front of us and I think all should try to read this quick book. Go pop psych and clear writing.
All I heard about this book was how gothic and amazing it was and me loving gothic, haunting books I thought why not? Everytime I try an adult novel lately I swear I get so mad! This book doesn't even nearly meet the hype it had around it, completely anti-climatic ending. I think I'll stick to my teen and young adult literature, it rarely disappoints me like adult literature does recently.
This was quite enjoyable. I didn't find it as gripping as Matched but it was told in a way that kept you reading, once you were a little ways into the story (after the Choosing ceremony is when it got interesting). I'm definitely going to read the next one. Can't wait to see what happens!
