Bu kitabı bir süredir okumadım ama sevdiğimi ve ağladığımı hatırlıyorum.
Beğendim, ama tahmin edilebilir olmaya mahkum edildi.
This book is so good. Amis's writing is very rich and dense like Nabakov's so you need to read it when youre really ready to dive in. Great great characters. The first page alone will get you hooked.
Reading this book took a monumental amount of perserverance on my part because every time I tried to read it I fell asleep. Even when I picked the book up after a 7 month long hiatius, as soon as I reached the part I hadn't read before... snooze. It's not that the book is boring. It isn't. And I like the characters. I just, for some reason, had difficulty connecting with it. This was a good (if a bit disjointed and confusing) paranormal mystery. But the thing that keeps me reading is the Kate/Curran dynamic and there just isn't enough Curran in this book. I think this will continue to be a 3 star series for me - I like it, but I don't know if I'll ever fall in love with it the way so many others seem to have done. We'll see.
A great and moody, wintry book, I fell right in. I'm fascinated by books that successfully make the narrator a character who is writing about someone else's life, and the narrator is barely involved in the actual story. It's so difficult to pull off, and so much fun to read when it's done well. Didn't really love the ending, but I'm a scrooge about endings--I love so few.
