The excessive recapping was just for the first book in the trilogy. This one is back to the same standards of plot, character development and writing skill that define this series. While it is not a cruel cliffhanger as some series tend to, this is the first book (10 out of 11) that has not wrapped up an independent story with the larger story of the series, although it did offer closure on a lot of events within.

Strange and confusing but very read-able... I always new South Lake Tahoe was seedy!
