it was a very good book and series. each of the three books in the trilogy seem a little slow at points, but in the end i was very glad that i put in the time to read all of the books in the series.

It's a page turner but the characters are 1950-60's 2-dimensional stereotypes. It's fun like a made-for-tv movie.

I really really really wanted to like...no love... this book. Maybe my expectations were too high? I even waited a while before writing a review, thinking maybe the passage of time would make my thoughts grow fonder. But clearly our love was not to be. The rating "it was ok" describes this book perfectly. It wasn't great. It wasn't bad. It was just "eh." At least the cover is awesome. There were just some things that irked me: (view spoiler) There is more I could share but I'll stop here. It's possible I'm being much too nitpicky but it can't be helped. If you've never judged a book by its cover only to be sadly underwhelmed, then you probably wouldn't understand.

Sad, haunting tale. It seemed that every character was swept away by forces beyond their control. Descriptive writing that you don't often experience, I felt like I was there, that I was seeing through the eyes of the characters whether giraffe or human.
