(Review) Nickel and Dimed is about Barbara Ehrenreich and her experience in 3 different cities, trying to survive as a minimum wage employee. She starts out in Key West, FL. While trying to afford an apartment down there she is also working 2 jobs. She shows us through her book that trying to live off of a minimum wage pay check is extremely hard and in some cases impossible. Basically, the rest of the book after that is about her going to 2 other cities (Portland,ME and Minneapolis,MN) and trying the exact same thing she tried in Key West. She tries getting minimum wage jobs in both the other cities just like she did in Key West, and in the end she fails to survive in both of the other cities just like she did in Key West. This book is very depressing because all it is is Ehrenreich trying many times in many different places to survive and live off of minimum wage jobs and failing every single time.
