This was a bit better than the silly Papua New Guinea one I read a few weeks ago. Still the weakest of all Melody Carlson's series.
The part that amazed me about reading "His Family" was the similarities of the world in 1917 to today. Immigration, generational differences concerning morals, aging, the struggle to maintain relevance in one's children's lives etc. This novel is an example of why I read books written in the time of the author's life. The author, Ernest Poole, was the first to receive the Pulitzer Prize, and it was for this book. Well worth reading.
