really exciting historical fiction

A very interestig treatment of a very bad historical set of circumstances. This book freaked me out more than a little due to the fact that I lived most of my life in the middle of these small towns that he focused on. It made look again at the environment in which I was raised and re-examine many thing that I saw and experianced. Not sure if it would be as powerful for someone who was not from the area he is talking about.
