Barack Obama first came to national political attention at the Democratic convention. His biography is the American dream. His mother struggled. He worke up at 4 AM to study as his education in Indonesia wasn't adequate so his mother tutored him before work. He has had material and personal success but stays grounded in how and who helped him become the person he is today. Inclusive of his African values and real life everyday tempations to be a slag jawed yokel.

This was fast paced and hard to put down, almost a 5 by Laura's rating scale. It is very different than Hegi's books about Germany. It was almost like someone else wrote it.
