I found myself turning the pages but I'm not sure why. The people described were so shallow that it was disconcerting to think that people really behaved that way at that time. Yes, the story did tweek my conscience about judging others too quickly, but that was not enough to make me think this was a great book. I don't think that I would choose any of Jane Austin's other books. I like something I can think about and get my teeth into.
