This was a fun journey to the far north of Sweden. Where the chief activities seem to be drinking and fighting. Hemingway would have loved it.

Every time I picked this book up and started reading the beautiful language I wondered why I put it down. Every time I put it down it was reluctantly, and yet I would usually pick up another book before I picked this one up again. I think I did not read it as continuously as I would have liked to because of the episodic nature of the sections within the book. This story read like a series of wonderful short stories linked by common characters and an ongoing plot. When I would reach the end of one section, I did not feel the need to pick the book up again right away.
