Many years after my reading of this book, I heard somewhere that is actually an analogy for battered woman syndrome. If pigs can turn a farm into a communist state than why can't a tree be an abusive husband. I guess it works.

I read this book going into Freshman year of highschool! It was and still is one of my all-time favorites! Such a wonderful, honest story... I recommend it to all girls who dream... :)
