I am not sure what to rate this book. I liked some of the ideas, but not others. Stargirls aka Susan is a girl who was homeschooled for most of her life and is going to public school so she can have friends. She is different. She plays a ukele at school and carries around a rat, wears funny clothes, and knows everyones birthday and sings to them. Everyone likes her for who she is at first, but then they don't because she is not like them. I can't say it really ends happily - I like happy endings. Star girl decides that it is okay to be different and there is a for sale sign in front of her house and she is gone. Nothing gets resolved completely. I needed it to work out. It was a book that made you think though.
