Brought this along with me to reread; its length and complexity makes it good Airplane Fare. This one keeps its draw on the re-read. Friedman can build a complex and compelling world, and incredibly deep and non-stock characters; as fantasy series go, this is a highly original one. And Tarrant is one of the most lovely characters ever created. Worth reading, but start with the first book in the trilogy, as it contains important background information.

This book brings up the age old question "who am I? where do I fit in?" but I feel like the ending was too fast and unrealistic.
