time pass reading but really funny
** spoiler alert ** Another great installment in the Escape from Furnace series. This world just keeps getting more and more complex. I love the lingering question of why this is all happening. We continue to get the thrill of weezers, mutant dogs, surgically enhanced kids, and a demented warden with the added bonus of mutant rats, mutant kids and vast crematoriums. I love the intrigue and the surprising depth of Alex’s character. I liked how Smith handled the escape--believable and (dare I say) heartwarming. I thought Alex's transformation from Black Suit back to regular boy was a little too easy but at least his inner monster came back to pay a visit later on. The book definitely dose a good job building anticipation for the next book, Fugitives, what with Alfred Furnace's threat, but I was sort of hoping this would only be a trilogy...not sure why exactly. I'll certainly read book 4 when it comes out. (Still no mention of ANY females! If Alex didn't have a mother I would have to assume all females had been wiped out in this version of the future!)
