Dave Egger's writing style of stream of consciousness, warts and all, makes his story seem more than a sob story. His book was reviewed as the next Catcher in the Rye and I can see the comparisons, but Catcher was also shorter and I think for good reason. The last half of the book I only completed as part of my inability to leave books unfinished. It was like a therapy session with a client you like, yet still find yourself staring longingly at the doorknob at 45 after. Not that I ever do that
