I've decided to upgrade this from four to five stars, upon realising that I've held it to different standards than I have a bunch of other books. I'm still not *completely* sold on the middle (war) section, but ohhhhhhh, I have to say the ending outweighs my reservations. I just saw the movie, which I loved, and it reminded me of how good the book is. I can barely think of parts of the book without bursting into tears.

Different, told through the thoughts of an autistic 15 year old. I thought it was touching how someone with this illness views the world in a logical, piece by piece way vs how "normal" people view everyday happenings. Makes you think about how we view those that are "different" around us - everyone has a reason for acting the way they do... sweet and sad story but filled with hope and self determination.
