An amazing formal experiment, one that I think can legitimately challenge Ulysses for title of the modernist masterpiece. The reason I love it so much in that context is that is proceeds toward order, in terms of the language, while the Compson family collapses into disorder. Denser and more difficult than As I Lay..., but ultimately more rewarding for that reason.
