This was an uniformed disappointment, on my part. This is a short, 70page excerpt from a larger novel. This writing was great as usual, the story line fun and imaginative. As Jane grows up she has dreams about a lone highlander from the 1400's, as she grows up she finds she was truly born in the wrong time period. What she doesn't know is that she will soon be in her time period with her dream man, only somethings are not as they seem. Something has happened and her highlander is not himself. All memories forgotten, all replaced with a man made of stone and ice. Jane must fix him and help him return to his former life, or she will be doomed forever to live life as a modern woman. Even though this was a short story it had all of the depth and reality to the characters as any other of Moning's books. The same other worldly mysticism was still there, the same passionate banter between the two main characters and of course the time travel. I highly recommend this read, but be forwarded, it will leave you wanting more.
