Room has a unique storyline. It is about a 5 year old who was born and grew up in a room where he and his mother were captives. The story is told from the little boy's point of view. I found it to drag much of the time. I think the story is interesting but not well developed. I got tired of the boy's manner of speech. I think it could make a great movie but the screenplay needs to be tweaked quite a bit.
This book is 419 pages long; Part Six is only 30 pages long. But Part Six was enough to make me glad I read the whole, tedious rest of the book. The beginning and the ending were also good, thank goodness, so it's actually only about 250 horribly tedious pages. If I were you, I'd just read THE JOKE - still my favorite Kundera. (Oh, but Part Six is lovely.)
