Of all of Smith's books, this one is my favorite. This novel actually got me into E.M. Forster, who I adore now. Thanks Zadie!

OOOOO!!! Where to begin... I could not put this down or the other two in the trilogy. The suspense between the two worlds made it very hard to stop reading. I read all three books in a month (and forced a week break between the 2nd and 3rd week). I highly recommend this author and this series. The world he creates is unique with awesome underlying good versus evil themes.
