Great book! This is not my first book by this author but this is my first in this series. I can't wait to get the next one.The twists and turns was gripping and the courtroom scenes were riveting. The info about the way the courts worked somewhat stunned me. I'm not very familiar with our criminal laws, which I definitely count as a plus, at least reality wise.

Shows how other societies fell, usually by their own choices. The societies include such diverse cultures as Easter Island, Greenland, the Mayans, and Montana. Lack of overviews and failure to recognize the long-term consequences of their actions are the main culprits for collapse. As for lessons for our own society, an overdependence on imported resources is, of course, paramount, but, as we can be foreseen, an overreliance on cultural mores, such as faith in financial institutions, can equally prove disasterous.
