Enjoyed this 1st book from Nicholas Sparks. One of the few books that made me cry. Human interest story.
I'm certainly late jumping on this train and there is probably nothing I can add to the millions of reviews already except my own humble opinion for my own records. The Hunger Games is a solid read, highly enjoyable, and I had no complaints at all. It had been a long time since I found a book that made me turn off the TV in the evening and stay up far too late into the night turning pages. I'm also a sucker for a strong lead female character. Katniss had her strengths but I appreciated that she wasn't always too clever. In the end though, while I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good quick read, I didn't come away thinking this book was a new personal favorite. It was missing that certain "spark" of emotional attachment. Perhaps by the time I've read the entire series, I will feel differently.
A very good follow up story to A Timely Vision. Dae O'Donnell is mayor of the small coastal community of Duck, NC. the community has a rich history of pirates, but then maybe it is mostly lore. Max Caudle claims to have found a chest filled with pirate's gold along the shore years ago. As Dae is returning to the Duck Historical Museum, run by Max, an explosion levels the the building injuring Dae. Dae has the ability to find missing pieces by touching the hands of the owner. The expolsion maginifies these abilites, so that know she gets much broader readings. Along with Kevin Brickman owner of the Blue Whale Inn and former FBI agent, they put there heads together to solve the mystery and find the killer. When they had their heads together, there may have been a few kisses, but that might be more for the next book.
