The five star rating probably has something to do with the fact that aspects of this book resonated with my own experience, particularly the parts about being a student and later finding that being a student is what you excel at and it's hard to figure out where to go from there. Esther's inability to choose a direction for herself and sense that fruits of possibility were drying up with every passing second felt eerily familiar. This book illuminates the path to madness with such clarity that I came away wondering how any of us cling to sanity. I can't believe it took me this long to get to this book, but better late than never. This isn't a book I would want to miss.
