I really enjoyed this book. It is set during the McCarthy period. It follows the lives of an actress and her husband from their idealistic youths in the communist party in New York through their married life in Los Angeles where their past catches up to them during the McCarthy trials. The details of the period were clearly well researched and really added to the story. Living in Los Angeles, I really enjoyed the realistic portrayal of the area and the beautiful descriptions of the setting. I found myself putting off other things so I could read more. I definitely recommend this book.
