This book is written by an LDS woman who survives a terrible plane crash but not without some injuries. It isn't very "churchY". It's more like a motivational story. I read this book in a day.

Amazing! I, like others, was somewhat put off by the classification of The Book Thief as young adult fiction. This work is for anyone and everyone who wants to enjoy a great piece of literature. Zusak has chosen an uncanny narrator for this story set in WWII Germany. The horrors of the Nazi regime and that war have been told to us time and again, but never by Death. Yes, Death is Zusak's voice in this rich and moving novel about love, loss, fear, and yes, even joy at times. Death's perspective is one of surprising compassion and feeling, and we are allowed to see many times Death has passed over a soul. Liesl, a young girl growing up in the midst of the chaos of WWII Germany, also lends an interesting twist. As a hungry, cold, lonely young girl, Liesl finds herself intrigued by books and how she gets them. She is uncanny, wily and at times makes you laugh. But Liesl can also make you cry with her ability to perceive others' feelings and needs. If you want to read something different . . . if you're tired of the same old, same old . . . if you want to experience in a history in a totally different way, then you must read The Book Thief.
